Prolonged treatment with antibiotics is ineffective against Lyme disease

According to a new Dutch study, published in New England Journal of Medicine, it has been shown that patients who have not fully recovered after a probable Lyme infection, are not helped by a prolonged treatment with antibiotics. "It is time to provide patients with clear information", suggests professor Björn Olsen, and adds that "it doesn't matter whether the treatment lasts for 14 days or 14 weeks".
