Patients suffering from chronic ailments caused by tick-borne infections such as Lyme disease, form a growing group. Such infections are often difficult to diagnose and as a result the uncertainty as well as the many visits to the doctor, create concern among those affected. In order to provide patients with an overall assessment, the Uppsala University Hospital (Akademiska sjukhuset) will, on the 6th of October 2015, open a clinic for the investigation of tick-borne infections. The new clinic will be headed by professor Björn Olsen (One Health Sweden).
This pilot project is part of the collaboration between Uppsala University (Department of Medical Sciences and Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology) and the University Hospital (Department for Clinical Microbiology and the Clinic for Infectious Diseases).
